ECO-SCHOOLS

O Eco-Schools is an international program of Foundation for Environmental Education, developed in Portugal since 1996 by European Blue Flag Association (ABAE) which aims to encourage actions and recognize the quality work developed by the school, within the scope of Environmental Education for Sustainability.

A Mafra City Council is an active partner in the Eco-Schools Program, providing technical support in the area of environmental education to education and teaching establishments in the municipality that have joined this program.

Quality Environmental Education Projects, developed in schools according to the methodology of this program, are recognized, at the end of the year, through a Green Flag Eco-Schools Award.

In our group, there are four schools that have already raised the Eco-Schools flag on their premises, since through their actions they implemented a set of measures and practices making the education and teaching establishment more innovative and environmentally responsible.

We will continue to work to contribute to greater involvement and participation of the entire school community, challenging everyone to get used to becoming aware of the importance of the environment in personal, family and community life, helping to make the environment around us more beautiful and harmonious.
