O Order no. 436-A/2017, of January 6 , approved the implementation of the Participatory School Budget (OPE) which aims to stimulate the civic and democratic participation of students, promoting their spirit of citizenship and dialogue, collective mobilization in favor of the common good and respect for different choices, valuing their opinion in decisions in which they are the main interested and responsible and, finally, allowing knowledge of the voting mechanism.
Thus, students in the 3rd Cycle of Basic Education will be able to decide which improvements to introduce in their educational establishments, in a democratic way, within the scope of the Participatory School Budget.
This measure aims to give students a voice and respond to their needs and interests, as well as promoting their civic participation.
To this end, schools must open a procedure for submitting proposals and assist students in their development and presentation.
